Sara Toole, planning and analysis manager at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, knows the secrets of success: work hard but enjoy it.
“One of the things about my job that I love is the culture. My co-workers are the best and we definitely know how to incorporate fun into our everyday work life,” she said.
Her philosophy in business involves hard work, risk-taking and building relationships.
“It’s important to be the best that you can be at work and at home, and the best way
to balance work and life is to leave work at work and go enjoy your life.”
Born and raised in Scranton, Toole graduated from Scranton High School and Wilkes University in business administration with a concentration in finance. She soon took a position at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in the finance department where she was later promoted to her current position.
In her three years at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Toole was involved with the major expansion of the casino in 2008 and more recently she was involved in the addition of table games. She has also earned an MBA in that time.
She is responsible for preparing the consolidated annual budget for the casino
while reviewing multiple monthly analysis reports on the company’s operations.
She works with the finance department and executives on all aspects of analysis
for the casino and with the director of finance and chief financial officer on various
financial budgeting/analysis projects.
“The secret to success is dedication. Always shoot for the stars and never settle
with how far you have come. A little competitive spirit never hurts either!” she said.
Her role model is her mother. “Her involvement in the community has encouraged
me to become more involved,” she said. She also leans on her fiancé. “Whenever I catch myself wanting to give up, he reminds me of his football coach’s quote, ‘If it was easy, everyone would do it,’” she said.
