The Commonwealth Foundation on Feb. 5 said that the Federal Highway Administration is expected to announce shortly that, once again, it has rejected the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's bid to toll I-80 across the state. The Commonwealth Foundation stated that on Feb. 4, the Pennsylvania Independent reported:

The U.S. Department of Transportation is expected to deny Pennsylvania's proposed tolling of Interstate 80 within the next week, halting a proposal pushed for several years by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, according to multiple federal sources. A Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) spokesperson would not comment on the status of the decision.
