Allied Services Integrated Health System


Tom Mineo recently joined Allied Services Integrated Health System as a physician account representative. He joins a team dedicated to educating area physicians to the medical professionals, services and technological advances that result in faster and fuller recovery for patients at Allied Services. He earned an MBA from the University of Scranton and brings 15 years of experience in the medical equipment field to his new role at Allied Services.





Timothy P. Braatz, M.D. has become medical director of NEPA Imaging Center. He has been associated with the center since joining the medical imaging practice in 2003. He replaces the former medical director, Dr. Jonathon Sullum, who has retired. Dr. Braatz received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed an internal medicine internship and radiology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Braatz completed his MRI fellowship at the University of Medical Imaging, Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y. Dr. Braatz is a Board certified radiologist and a member of the American College of Radiology and the American Medical Association.





Schuylkill Health introduced a new physician to its neurology practice, Schuylkill Medical Group Neurology announced John E. Simodejka, president/chief executive officer. Nicole E. Purcell, D.O., M.S., board certified neurologist, recently began seeing patients in her Pottsville Office at the Schuylkill Medical Mall, 700 Schuylkill Manor Road, Pottsville. Dr. Purcell will work with referring physicians to diagnose and treat disorders of the nervous system including diseases of the brain, nerves, muscles and spinal cord. Dr. Purcell’s practice also provides treatment for conditions such as stroke, seizures, headaches, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s disease, dementia and other disorders. Dr. Purcell comes to Schuylkill Health from Pinnacle Health Neurology Associates, Camp Hill, where she served as director and chief of neurological services. She also served on the board of directors of Pinnacle Health Medical Services and is a clinical assistant professor of neurology, Penn State College of Medicine. Dr. Purcell earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her Internship at St. Luke’s Hospital and Health Network, Allentown, and her residency (chief resident) at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.



Susquehanna Health


Susquehanna Health announced that Victor Becker, M.D. has recently been named chief medical information officer (CMIO) for the health system hospitals. As CMIO, Dr. Becker will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in the planning, development and implementation of clinical information technology, as well as act as a liaison between hospital medical staff and information technology staff to assess needs. Dr. Becker has been CMIO at Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital since 2007 and has practiced family medicine at the Laurel Health Centers since 1999. Dr. Becker will continue to see patients two days per week at the Wellsboro Laurel Health Center, and as CMIO will spend three days per week rotating between Tioga and Lycoming counties fulfilling duties.



Wayne Memorial Hospital


Abdalla Sholi, M.D., is assuming leadership of Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Care and Infusion Clinic. Dr. Sholi had been on the Wayne Memorial Hospital medical staff several years earlier and returned this year, joining radiation oncologist Jose Pino-y-Torres, M.D., in serving the needs of Wayne Memorial’s cancer patients. Dr. Sholi is dual board-certified in hematology and medical oncology, both subspecialties of internal medicine, in which he is also board-certified. After internship and residency at the Scranton Temple Residency Program in Scranton, Dr. Sholi went on to complete a three-year fellowship in hematology/oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. Sholi received his medical degree from Jordan University in Amman, Jordan in 1994. Most recently, Dr. Sholi was on the staff of the Cancer Center of Sarasota Manatee in Sarasota, Fla.



Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers


Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), welcomed Stephanie Childs, DMD to its staff. Dr. Childs will see patients at the Pike Dental Center in Lords Valley. The new dental office, part of a building expansion at the Pike Family Health Center, is an extension of the Together for Health Dental Center in Honesdale. Dr. Childs earned a doctor of dental medicine degree graduating magna cum laude from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, Philadelphia. The Pike Dental Center is located at 750 Route 739, Suite D of the Pike County Medical Center, Lords Valley. The dental facility, fully equipped with five operatories for comprehensive dental services will open its doors to patients in January 2014. Dr. Childs joins Robert Fredericks, DDS at this state-of-the art practice.

Also, Michael C. Campbell, M.D., behavioral health director for Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers, (WMCHC) can now add FAPA to his title. He was recently named a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). According to the APA’s website, fellowship is the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. The designation is awarded to outstanding psychiatrists who have made significant contributions to the psychiatric profession in at least five of the following areas: administration, teaching, scientific and scholarly publications, volunteering in mental health and medical activities of social significance, community involvement as well as for clinical excellence. Dr. Campbell has been treating adults and children age 3 and older at the Behavioral Health Center, Stourbridge Professional and Medical Complex, 600 Maple Street in Honesdale for the past two years. He is board-certified in psychiatry and family medicine. He earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University‘s Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed a joint residency program at West Virginia University Hospital.
