Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association’s Energy Roundtable tour will be held Friday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at Chesapeake Energy, Towanda.
A major participant in Pennsylvania’s energy industry, Chesapeake has been active in Pennsylvania through their acquisition of Columbia Natural Resources. Chesapeake currently operates 20 drilling rigs in northeast Pennsylvania and has more than 1.5 million acres of land under lease in the Marcellus Shale. The positions it holds in the six major shale plays across country makes the company the second largest producer of natural gas in the United States. Chesapeake has paid over $1 billion to landowners in Pennsylvania since 2008. With more than 20 years of industry experience and a reputation as an excellent operator, they look forward to continuing to fueling America’s move to energy independence in the great state of Pennsylvania.
Chesapeake requires guests to wear boots (steel toe preferred but not required) and pants/jeans (no shorts or dresses). Chesapeake will provide hard hats, safety glasses, and ear plugs. Please remember the rig is an industrial operation and there is a chance that your clothes or shoes can get dirty.
COST: $36 per person for MAEA members, $72 per person for non-members
