Between 2009 and 2011, more than $1 billion in state and federal funding is earmarked to fund energy projects undertaken by Pennsylvania businesses, local governments, schools, hospitals, non-profit organizations, energy producers, and homeowners. While the majority of these funds have been expended, a significant amount of additional funding will be available in 2010.
A breakfast seminar at the Country Cupboard Restaurant, Friday, March 5 will describe these available funds and explain the types of projects and participants that are eligible to receive these funds.
Financing Your Energy Project is sponsored by the SEDA-COG Energy Resource Center and will feature Dan Griffiths, Deputy Secretary for Energy and Technology Deployment, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Registration is $25 and includes breakfast. The Country Cupboard is on Route 15 and Hafer Road, just north of Lewisburg.
Over the past year the Commonwealth has awarded a large portion of the $650 million in state-financed initiatives that is available for energy projects and much of the $390 million in federal economic stimulus funds. This year there will be additional financial incentives through existing and new state programs ─ funds for energy projects ranging from the manufacture of alternative energy products to energy conservation activities.
Financing Your Energy Project is an opportunity for individuals to learn about financial incentives available to help reduce their facility’s energy use or for alternative energy technologies. In Pennsylvania, the state and federal governments are investing a total of
$1 billion in energy-related programs, projects, and activities. Of particular interest to manufacturers and trade members are funding opportunities that can lead to new sales, job growth, and product and project development.
Dan Griffiths, the seminar’s primary speaker, will describe energy-related financial opportunities including grants, loans, and tax incentives. Prior to his tenure at DEP, Griffiths was Senior Analyst at the Pennsylvania Consumer Advocate’s office and a senior manager with the state Public Utility Commission, where he specialized in energy policy and programs. He also has considerable experience in the corporate energy world with New Energy Ventures, the Energy Cooperative Association of Pennsylvania, and Customized Energy Solutions.
Pre-registration and pre-payment are required for Financing Your Energy Project. Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. The program will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 9:30 a.m. Interested individuals may register, pay online, and find directions at www.seda-cog.org/energy, or contact Katie Ruiz for more information at (570) 524-4491, e-mail kruiz@seda-cog.org.
