Catherine McAuley Center to hold fund-raiser at this Thursday’s Farmers’ Market

This Thursday, Sept. 2, the City of Wilkes-Barre’s Farmers’ Market will host the Catherine McAuley Center’s “Parade of Baskets” fund raiser. This traveling fund raiser, which consists of 46 themed baskets, parades throughout the course of a month to a number of locations around northeastern Pennsylvania.
Ten baskets will be on display at the Sept. 2 Farmers’ Market, and raffle tickets are available for $.50 apiece, 12 tickets for $5, or 25 tickets for $10. The winners will be announced at 3 p.m. on Sept. 25, 2010 at Mercy Hospital, Scranton.
All proceeds benefit the Catherine McAuley Center, a nonprofit organization sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and named after their foundress. The center provides shelter, food, and supportive services to homeless women and children in northeastern Pa. For more information or to purchase tickets online, visit catherinemcauleycenter.org.
In addition to this special programming, traditional market goods, including food, crafts fresh fruits and vegetables will be available. Flashback will headline the Music at the Market concert series, which will begin at noon.

- Sept. 23: music by Farmer’s Daughter
- Sept. 30: music by John Steven’s Doubleshot Band
- Oct. 7: music by Bare Knuckle
- Oct. 14: music by Bees Knees
