City of Wilkes-Barre announces Performing Arts Day

This Thursday, Aug. 12, the City of Wilkes-Barre’s Farmers Market will host Performing Arts Day. This event, which is free and open to the public, will feature performances by music and dance groups.

From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the band Tribal Wave will play didgeridoo music. Without Walls dance group will perform from 11 a.m. to 11 a.m., and YOUniversal Suzuki Strings violinists will play from noon until 1 p.m. Performing Arts Day will end with a performance by Field of Grace Jazz Ensemble, who will play from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to this special programming, traditional market goods, including food, crafts fresh fruits and vegetables will be available.

Mark your calendars for all of the fun programming the City of Wilkes-Barre is offering during the 2010 season of the Farmers’ Market:

  • Aug. 19: Harvest Contest - enter your fruits, veggies, and buds. Music by Sister Esther
  • Aug. 26: music by Tree Sap
  • Sept. 2: music by Flashback Band
  • Sept. 9: music by Plus 3
  • Sept. 16: music by Stanky and the Coalminers
  • Sept. 23: music by Farmer’s Daughter
  • Sept. 30: music by John Steven’s Doubleshot Band
  • Oct. 7: music by Bare Knuckle
  • Oct. 14: music by Bees Knees
