Doctors and insurance companies play tug of war when deciding how to treat a patient. For nonemergency procedures that require pre-authorization, doctors say insurers often take too long, which puts patients’ well-being at risk. (read more)

The Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association (MAEA) will hold a HR Roundtable from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. discussing the benefits of hiring veterans on Oct. 24 at the Top of the 80’s in Hazleton. Presenter Allen Smith, veteran employment representative, PA CareerLink, will present. Topics to be covered include key skill assets that veterans bring to the workforce, “VOW to hire heroes act”, tax incentives for hiring veterans, and resources to locate veterans to hire.
