As assistant vice-president at the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, Christina Hitchcock is responsible for developing and reinforcing the image of the chamber and also for developing, administering and disseminating all communications for The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and its affiliates.
She finds that the most important thing is family and she gets great joy from spending time with her husband Jim and son, Joseph.
She began at the chamber as a business development specialist and worked with MetroAction, helping small businesses find financing and apply for various loans.
She was also an instructor for the Small Business Institute program and the Marketing Mastery program. Hitchcock serves on the board of directors for First Friday Scranton; serves on the steering committee for the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties Success by Six Steering Committee; is a volunteer counselor for SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Businesses. “I truly love helping small businesses. I think it’s because there are so many entrepreneurs in my family” she said.
In her spare time, she is a food blogger, maintaining, “It’s a Keeper (www.everydaytastes.com)” and blogs about recipes and cooking. “Cooking is my passion. I actually find it very relaxing and enjoy trying new recipes and cooking big, family meals” she said.
Her advice is to find a way to learn from every experience. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with many great business and community leaders and I always try to learn something from each experience and apply it to my career or personal life” she said.
Her greatest mentors have been her family. “My parents instilled the values of hard work and to follow through with things in life and my son has taught me patience and the ability to look at life through a 5-year-old’s eyes.” She is a Penn State graduate and resides in Madison Township.
