Michelle O’Brien finds that, when you find a profession you truly love, it’s difficult, but still possible, to be successful in your profession and have a close and loving family.

She launched her own firm, The O’Brien Law Group LLC in Moosic back in 2009.
The general practice firm’s clients are mostly oil and gas landowners with properties located throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. She often speaks at seminars and continuing legal education classes on various issues related to oil and gas leases and other current issues affecting landowners.

She also has a very active real estate, business and commercial lending practice.
“My job is to listen and get to know my clients so that I can most effectively represent them and their individual interests. I personally strive to make the legal process as simple as possible because many times it can be overwhelming,” she said.

She is also the owner of O’Brien Mineral Management LLC, which, among other things, assists landowners with auditing their gas royalty checks. She is a member of the National Association of Royalty Owners. She is pursuing certification in mineral management from The National Association of Royalty Owners to become certified as a mineral manager.

She is an adjunct professor at the University of Scranton and a member of Circle 200 and, in 2009, served as the president of the Association of Women Lawyers of Lackawanna County. She was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Philadelphia magazine.

She attended Penn State on a gymnastics scholarship and was a tri-captain of the team her senior year. O’Brien was the first female gymnast in PSU history to earn a perfect 10 on any event. Her two perfect scores were on the balance beam.

She is the wife of Lackawanna County Commissioner Corey O’Brien and they have four children, Kate 8, Casey 6, Jake 18-months and Luke 3-months.
