A special free event to help companies learn about government contracting opportunities will be held in Shamokin on Friday, Aug. 27.
Participants will be instructed in registering as a federal vendor in Central Contractor Registration and how to complete other registration requirements, a necessity for companies seeking to do business with the federal government.
The event will be held at the Brush Valley Chamber of Commerce in Room 304 at 2 East Arch Street. Information will be presented by the SEDA-COG Procurement Technical Assistance Center. Company representatives may call SEDA-COG at (570) 524-4491 and schedule a one-on-one counseling session.
Robert Brown, director of SEDA-COG's procurement program, said, “We’ll walk companies through the vendor registration process and teach them how to locate subcontracting opportunities with large business prime contractors. We’ll also instruct companies on how to market properly to the federal government.”
Staff will also discuss how to obtain a U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) federal supply schedule, which is a contract used by the federal government to purchase products and services.
SEDA-COG's Procurement Center offers a range of government contracting services and is funded by the Department of Defense and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). The center is tasked with helping companies sell products and services to local, state and federal government agencies and prime contractors. Details can be found at the center’s web site www.seda-cog.org/ptac.
One-on-one counseling sessions at the Aug. 27 event are scheduled for 90 minutes. Interested individuals may contact Kristen Moyer, (570) 524-4491, or e-mail
